Derrick Tan
Group Executive Chairman, WRISE Group
Derrick has over 25 years of banking experience. Before WRISE, he was Bank of Singapore’s Hong Kong Chief Executive and Global Market Head of Greater China and North Asia. He was also Chairman of the Bank’s Hong Kong Management Committee. He managed over USD47 billion of Assets under Management and successfully drove business expansion in the Greater China market. Before that, he was the Global Market Head for Japan, Sub-Continent, and Malaysia where he was instrumental in establishing the Bank’s market-leading position in the Middle East region, which culminated in the setting up of the Bank’s branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and was the Responsible Officer of the branch registered with Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
Prior to joining Bank of Singapore, Derrick held various senior positions in UBS AG including Executive Director and Desk Head of the Indonesia market and responsible for HSBC’s offshore International Banking Centre.
Derrick has won multiple awards in his career, including “Chairperson of the year” at WealthBriefing MENA Awards 2024, one of the “Leading New Generation Leaders” at Forbes China’s Outstanding Enterprises Award 2022, and “Outstanding Individual” at Wealth Briefing Asia’s Greater China Awards 2019. Under his astute leadership, WRISE has earned several industry awards such as the “Most Innovative Wealth Management Model” award from WealthBriefing MENA Awards 2024, “Editor’s Triple Star” by The Asset’s Triple A Awards 2024, “Family Office Solutions” from WealthBriefingAsia Awards 2024, and “Newcomer” award from WealthBriefingAsia EAM Awards 2023.
His leadership skills, foresight in market trends with proven track records, and management capabilities are widely acknowledged in the industry. He firmly believes innovation is the law of tomorrow and technology can empower clients with full transparency of their holdings and customised end-to-end wealth solutions.
Derrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance with full distinctions from the Curtin University of Technology. He is on the Vice Chancellor’s List and is also a recipient of the Golden Key Award and Curtin International Student Scholarship. He also graduated from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Programme in 2013.
